About
Lisa lives with her family in the California bay area having returned recently from rural Guanacaste, Costa Rica where she was inspired daily by the flora, fauna, rich colors, textures, philosophy of sustainability, the people, the ocean and the environment. Since her move to Costa Rica in August, 2016, Lisa has worked primarily with painted silk. All scarves or wall pieces are hand-painted on 100% silk. They can be commissioned for specific groups, events or individuals or you can choose a one-of-a-kind piece from the shop.
Like all of Lisa’s work, these pieces are expressions of identity that use memories, experiences, artifacts and history as ingredients to tell a personal story through a visual medium. Lisa's clients are an integral part of the creative process and through collaboration, help to create something meaningful.
Lisa holds a B.A. in Art History and Design from Stanford University and an M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design. She previously served as Creative Director for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s website and Director of Trend for Walmart. She continues to create one-of-a-kind pieces in any medium to commemorate major life events through Lisa Waltuch Studios: www.lisawaltuchstudios.com
